Samsung ViewFinity S8 (2024): Is It Worth Your Money?
When it comes to design, Samsung monitors tend to share a similar vibe. They all go for that minimalist aesthetic. The edges of the screen, the stand, everything has this sleek, squared-off look. The back has a nice matte finish, and there are even some cool striped details. Overall, it's pretty solid – simple yet modern. I dig that kind of design; it's classy without being flashy.

Speaking of the stand, gotta hand it to Samsung, they know how to make a sturdy and flexible one. My favorite thing is how easy it is to adjust the height and tilt, even rotate it vertically. Super convenient, especially since I often need to work with my screen in portrait mode when I'm editing TikTok or YouTube Shorts. The only thing that bugs me a little is that the stand's sliding mechanism is a tad stiff. Sometimes, when I'm in the zone and need to adjust the height, it takes a bit more effort than I'd like. Feels a bit clunky, you know?
The ViewFinity S8 has a pretty good selection of ports. I'm rocking the version with Thunderbolt, and it's been a game-changer. Outputting video, transferring data, even reverse charging my laptop – it does it all. Since I got this monitor, I've ditched my bulky charging brick, and my workspace is way less cluttered.
Now, let's talk about display quality – it's simply amazing! From the moment I hooked up my laptop to the ViewFinity S8, I was blown away by the sharpness and colors. The 27-inch 4K IPS panel delivers incredibly crisp visuals with vibrant and accurate colors. Seriously, the color accuracy is spot-on. I've edited photos and videos on this thing, and the results are fantastic!
And I have to mention, the 10-bit color depth on the ViewFinity S8 is totally worth it. Images look incredibly detailed and colors blend seamlessly. I can see the subtle gradations and transitions without any banding or posterization that I've experienced on other monitors. Compared to the ViewFinity S7 I used before, the S8 just feels way more "pro."
The KVM Switch is another feature I love. I can switch between two computers with just one keyboard and mouse - super convenient, especially when juggling multiple projects.
Bottom line: for a picky monitor user like myself, the Samsung ViewFinity S8 is definitely a worthy contender.
