As a mid laner in LoL, I've experienced my fair share of mechanical keyboards. Here are my top 5 based on my own experiences, ranked from worst to best:

Redragon K552 Kumara

The Kumara was my entry-level choice when I first started playing mid. The blue switches were quite loud, sometimes distracting me when I was trying to combo. The ABS keycaps got shiny quickly, making spamming abilities difficult after a few months. However, the low price was a big plus. Compared to its competitors, the Kumara is like a newbie freshly ranked, usable but with many limitations.

Corsair K63 Compact

The K63 Compact was a step up from the Kumara. The Cherry MX Red switches were smoother, helping me spam Ryze combos faster. The compact size allowed for more comfortable mouse movement. However, the lack of a numpad was sometimes inconvenient when typing information in chat. The backlighting was only red, which was a bit boring. Compared to the Kumara, the K63 Compact is like going from Silver to Gold, better but not really impressive.

Ducky One 2 Mini

The Ducky One 2 Mini was a pleasant surprise. The 60% size is extremely compact, allowing me more mouse space – very useful when playing Zed. The build quality is much better than the K63 Compact. PBT keycaps provide a great typing feel. However, learning the new layout was quite difficult, sometimes causing me to miss pings. Compared to the K63 Compact, the Ducky One 2 Mini is like moving from Gold to Platinum - it has potential but takes time to get used to.

SteelSeries Apex Pro

The Apex Pro took my experience to the next level. The OmniPoint switches are adjustable for sensitivity, allowing me to optimize for each champion. The OLED display is quite useful for tracking game information. The magnetic wrist rest is extremely comfortable during long matches. However, the high price is a major barrier. Compared to the Ducky One 2 Mini, the Apex Pro is like going from Platinum to Diamond – very strong but also very expensive.

Wooting 60HE

The Wooting 60HE is a game changer for me. Lekker switch technology with analog travel allows for precise control over champion movement speed. Rapid Trigger helps me cast skills faster than ever. The 60% size is extremely compact and lightweight. Powerful software allows for customization down to the key. However, the high price and steep learning curve are significant drawbacks. Compared to the Apex Pro, the Wooting 60HE is like going from Diamond to Challenger - difficult to master but once you get used to it, nothing compares.

Criteria for Choosing a Keyboard for LoL Mid Laners:

  • Switches: Linear switches like Red or Speed Silver are recommended for fast skill spamming. Ideal actuation force is around 45-50g.
  • Size: TKL or 60% to allow for plenty of mouse space. Full-size can be cumbersome when playing at low DPI.
  • Keycaps: PBT doubleshot for durability and no shine after prolonged use.
  • Polling rate: At least 1000Hz to ensure the lowest latency.
  • N-key rollover and anti-ghosting: Essential to ensure all keys are registered when comboing.
  • Software: The more flexible the better, allowing you to customize macros and lighting for each champion.
  • Durability: Choose a keyboard with a rated lifespan of at least 50 million keystrokes per switch.

Remember, this is just my personal experience. The most important thing is to choose a keyboard that suits your playing style.
