Ziggs Build Breakdown

Early game:

The early game is the phase where you need to farm minions fast to get more gold to buy items. And besides that, you need to poke and pressure the enemy. Therefore, Ziggs will need items for magic damage and especially mana. You need more mana to poke continuously.

  • Boots of Mana: give magic damage and 150% energy regeneration. They also give 8 magic penetration. The 150% energy regeneration stat is very useful for a mage already. In the current meta, Boots of Mana are upgraded to Mana Metor. Why is that? Because the passive of this item deals damage up to 25% of the maximum health of each enemy hit. This attack will surely be used whenever the enemy team stands next to each other in hot areas on the map like Dragon or Baron.
  • Luden’s Echo: gives damage, mana, ability haste. But what I like most is the passive that deals damage to 3 targets nearby. This passive is very useful, ensuring that you clear minions very fast. And in the teamfight phase, it deals damage to multiple enemy champions at the same time.

Mid game:

In the mid game, I suggest you should choose items that are heavy on damage. The reason is that Ziggs has a long range, so he will usually stand in a safe position to attack from afar. Moreover, this phase does not have many enemy champions building magic resistance.

  • Rabadon’s Deathcap: will greatly increase magic damage for Ziggs. It ensures that every time you throw a bomb, it is very high quality.
  • Infinity Orb: is an item specialized for killing targets with low health. Imagine Ziggs throwing a super bomb Mega Inferno Bomb into the middle of the teamfight, hitting the entire enemy team. Are you excited?

Late game:

This phase is certain that the enemy team has magic resistance, and has many tools to approach and deal damage to Ziggs. Therefore, I suggest you should choose items that give more health or shield.   • Liandry’s Torment: still gives damage and magic penetration. But it also gives health. Enough to withstand one or two attacks and find a way to escape from the fight. The passive of this item I find very good. For example, in the teamfight phase, sometimes the range will not reach you, forcing you to get closer and surely you will have to take some damage. However, the damage of this item causes burn damage. It is annoying like the way Teemo deals damage.
  • The final choice you can choose is Morellonomicon for 50% grievous wounds, suitable when the enemy team has too much magic resistance. Or Crown of the Shattered Queen, an item that is very hot in the current meta. Create a shield to resist damage.

The passive allows all skills to deal damage to turrets. With this reworked passive, Ziggs will surely be picked in many team compositions in professional play. Because the advantage allows Ziggs to destroy structures very quickly.

Another highlight of Ziggs’ passive is that it will empower Bouncing Bomb. The main poke and damage skill of Ziggs. I always choose the timing when Bouncing Bomb is empowered to attack the target.

So how to know when Bouncing Bomb is empowered?

You pay attention to the passive bar below the health bar. When the passive bar is full and the Bouncing Bomb skill button has lightning around it, that’s when Bouncing Bomb is empowered.

There is a small note that Ziggs uses a lot of mana so try to choose the most damaging attack to attack the target.

BOUNCING BOMB BOUNCING BOMB

The advantage of this skill is that the attack range is extremely far. If empowered, it deals very large damage. The more damage items are added to this skill, the more damage it deals.

Another advantage is that this skill can be thrown over walls. The attack range can also be thrown over walls, do you understand what that means? It means that Ziggs can allow himself to stand in safe positions.

And still put a lot of pressure with his poke ability. For example, Ziggs can completely stand on the wall of the Dragon area to throw bombs down.

I also use it to knock the target in a favorable direction for me. Of course, if applied to attack, you must use other skills to create more crowd control.

HEXPLOSIVE MINEFIELD HEXPLOSIVE MINEFIELD

Scatter mines and slow 35% targets. As mentioned above, this skill will be used to add more crowd control effects if you choose the attack option. It is also applied to create pressure to control the area. You can use it to block the enemy’s attack and retreat paths.

MEGA INFERNO BOMB MEGA INFERNO BOMB

Throw a super bomb that deals wide damage. In this rework, the damage at the edge of the blast radius is not reduced too much. I checked that it only differs from the center damage by more than 100 damage. The closer the target is, the faster the bomb is thrown.

So when to throw a super bomb. According to me, the most suitable time is when fighting. Because when fighting, it will be very difficult to retreat in time. I will prioritize aiming at the target with the least health.

How to play Ziggs

When Ziggs was reworked, I didn’t think Ziggs was very strong. Until I tried playing, I was really impressed by how annoying Ziggs was in teamfights. Below is my entire experience playing Ziggs, I hope you will play this champion well.

Laning phase

With the advantage of long range, I will combine with the empowered passive Bouncing Bomb to poke the target. There is an important note in this phase that you have to control the position of the Jungle well.

Avoid being ganked unexpectedly. For the way to poke the target, when using Bouncing Bomb, it deals damage to a small area. It means that if the target is near the minions, both the minions and the target have to take damage.

There is a very good tip I will show you. That is how to coordinate the skill set to create damage and crowd control similar to Gragas’s combo.

First, I will throw Hexplosive Minefield at half of the lane. Surely at this time the target will have to stand at the other half of the lane. Then I will throw Satchel Charge at the outer edge of the area where the target is standing. And activate it quickly, the enemy will be thrown into the area where the Hexplosive Minefield was set before.

At this point, the enemy has been slowed. And it is the perfect time to throw Mega Inferno Bomb. If the enemy is not dead, continue to use Bouncing Bomb. I guarantee you that with this combo, no AP champion can survive.

A second tip. That is when the enemy is pushing the lane and standing near my turret. Continue to use Satchel Charge to knock the enemy back into my turret. When the enemy runs away, use Hexplosive Minefield to slow them down and take more damage from the turret.

In this phase, Ziggs’s role is mainly to control the area and poke from afar. Ziggs’s skills are especially useful in narrow areas.

If there is no important target on the map, you can try to destroy the enemy’s turret. Ziggs destroys turrets very fast. If there are many targets aiming at you. Remember that Satchel Charge can also throw Ziggs over the wall.
